Rope Access

XEIAD's engineers are proficient in rope access inspection operations specialising in the undertaking of structural surveys, inspections and assessments. All technical and operational personnel are trained to IRATA standards from Level I up to Level III operation supervisors.

Key areas of rope access operation are:rope access

  • Engineer led rope access for inspection of structures and facilities
  • Detailed forensic survey, inspection, investigation and assessment
  • Independent inspection, supervision and management of works
  • Independent professional audit and review of rope access operations
  • Engineering support and advice in promoting remedial and new works requirements
  • Emergency call-out response for infrastructure inspection

Safety and risk management are two key aspects of our service delivery. We therefore spend a lot of time training our engineers, encouraging know how transfer between team members and making sure that everyone's capabilities are kept up to date. We are able to tackle significant access challenges and proud of our exemplary safety record.

We have full in-house equipment for rope access operations. Our diving and confined space capability can support these operations where necessary. This includes boat cover for work over water and breathing apparatus for shafts and other difficult to access infrastructure.

Our engineers are available to advise on working at height operations and inspection requirements to promote efficient and cost effective planning of client requirements.

Confined Spaces

XEIAD undertake confined space inspection and survey operations in accordance with HSE "confined space entry regulations" 1997. As a consultancy organisation XEIAD's confined space operations are restricted to inspection and survey.

Key areas of operation are:confined spaces

  • Engineer led confined space access for inspection of structures and facilities
  • Detailed forensic survey, inspection, investigation and assessment
  • Independent inspection, supervision and management of works
  • Independent professional audit and review of confined space operations
  • Engineering support and advice in promoting remedial and new works requirements
  • Emergency call-out response for infrastructure inspection

Confined space technical and operational personnel are fully trained in confined space entry and operation. Operational personnel undertaking confined space planning and supervision are supported by comprehensive company procedures, recurring reviews and continuous development.

Our diving capability also provides support to complex confined space entry operations allowing for detailed project planning and operation supervision, dedicated rescue personnel and full breathing apparatus provision.

We own our equipment for confined space operations and maintain it to a set of rigorous standards.

Our engineers are available to advise on confined space works and inspection requirements to promote efficient and cost effective planning.

Diving

XEIAD is registered with the HSE to undertake diving operations within UK inshore and inland waters in accordance with the HSE "Diving at Work Regulations" 1997. Our clients use our professional diving services throughout the UK for a range of Civil Engineering related missions.

Key areas of diving operation are:

  • Engineer led below and above water inspection of structures and facilitiesdiving
  • Detailed forensic survey, inspection, investigation and assessment of inland and inshore structures
  • River and sea bed geological and scour survey
  • Independent inspection, supervision and management of works
  • Specialist Resident Engineer duties
  • Independent professional safety audit and review of diving operations
  • Engineering support advice in promoting remedial and new works requirements
  • Emergency call-out response for infrastructure inspection and assessment

Our technical and operational personnel are certified with the HSE as trained commercial divers. Operational personnel undertaking dive planning and dive supervision are supported by comprehensive company procedures, review, development and training.

We have full dive spreads for surface supplied diving operations.

All vehicles, trailers, pontoons and launches provide access support and cover to diving operations.

Our diving engineers are available to advise on underwater works and inspection requirements to promote efficient and cost effective planning of client requirements.

ROAVs/UAVs (Drone) Inspections

DroneXEIAD is preparing to launch professional aerial inspection and surveying services using Remotely Operated Aerial Vehicles (ROAVs) or more commonly known as Drones. We will bring together our extensive structural civil engineering inspection experience with advanced drone pilot capabilities.  We will be able to offer close visual inspections for example of wind turbines, large complex industrial structures including exhaust towers, live flare stacks in an Oil & Gas Refinery, operating transmission towers for a mobile operator, electricity pylons or provide topographic survey data to assist our civil engineering clients gather important information. The type of inspection methods in development using 1080p HD video recording, IR and Thermal imaging are:

  • Infrastructure video imaging and stills
  • Infrared (IR) and Thermographic imaging
  • Topographical Surveys
  • Coastal Erosion Surveys
  • Quarry Topographic Safety Surveys
  • Light Detection and Ranging Surveys
  • Emergency, rapid response call out inspections

The introduction of drones in our value chain is a testimony to our continuous quest to innovate and bring new inspection methodologies to our valued clients. By doing so we can continue to reduce costs, improve safety and in certain cases reduce or better manage risk on complex projects.

Our engineers will typically pair-up with an experienced pilot to produce detailed inspection reports containing high resolution photographs and video for close visual inspections. We aim to use high definition cameras, infrared & thermal imaging cameras, GPS geolocalisation analysis and will shortly be testing the use of laser scanning to precisely measure and produce 3D modelling of specific structures. We will also be able to provide detailed topographic land surveys.

We are proud to be partnering with aerial photography experts HexCam. A leader in the provision of remote aerial photography and video using radio-controlled drone aircraft.
